We have been in the telecom segment of the business since 1991! This division is the largest Independent Payphone Provider in Georgia. We once own and operated thousands of payphones and since reduced the quantity due to the dramatic growth in smart phones. Existing long-term contracts are still being serviced under government state agencies and corporate chain accounts, as we continue to be a long-standing industry leader. Our executive team has served on the Board of Directors with many industry associations.
As the smart phone revolution evolve, so has prepaid phone cards and prepaid wireless product lines both strong revenue generating segments for our company. According to CPR Group, the market size in pre-paid phone cards is estimated to be $6 billion per year in annual sales.
The history of a calling card has begun from the vandalism of payphones which was caused by a shortage of coins in Italy in 1975. The first magnetic strip phone card was made so people wouldn't need to use coins to make a call.
Last year, U.S. consumers used prepaid phone cards to place nearly 35 billion minutes in calls, and the number is expected to rise 26 percent to 44 billion this year, according to a Frost Group business analyst.
IDT a major supplier, stated…”sales of prepaid phone cards, which account for 70 percent of its revenue, are growing at 30 percent to 40 percent annually and it sold a record 18 million prepaid calling cards in July 2010…”
The Ultra Group will continue to grow this segment of the business; specifically distributing prepaid phone card PIN sales to Phone-Time Café’s Owners.
